My story Cure-all will appear at Flash Flood Journal at around 22.00 on 16th May 2012.
and that’s not all
I have the great honour, in celebration of this day, to be one of the selected contributors to Twisted Tales, an anthology by Raging Aardvark. My good friends John Ritchie and Angela Readman coincidentally also have a story there so be sure to read those as well. In fact these are short stories – and they are all outstanding (if I say so myself) so read them ALL!
My story is called A Peel. It is online for 48 hours and thereafter it may be downloaded FREE of charge here http://bit.ly/bpvC84. and a pdf. Anthology is coming out at the end of this month. It is published by Ether Books under what is a new genre for them Twisted Tales. I’m glad I to be part of that and look forward to placing more stories at Ether.

National Flash Fiction Day is being celebrated for the first time in the UK and has been adopted around the world in a buzz of excitement.
Raging Aardvark Publications is delighted to present Twisted Tales, an anthology celebrating Flash Fiction. These short, sweet snippets of stories have the ability to tempt the imagination, tantalise a reader and pose questions, form the heart of a great flash fiction. Twisted Tales was born out of the need to showcase Flash Fiction in its own right and a desire to present writers whose first love lays within the short story.
Far too long has society been indulged with the excessive word count. Annie (and Oonah) believe that it is time the short story and all its derivatives demand their rightful place back into readership.
It is filled with a mixture of stories, some which will make you think, others smile and tales which will have you reaching for your security blanket.
Twisted Tales includes both established writers alongside emerging authors.
The successful contributors to Twisted Tales will be showcased on ether books as a separate genre. They will be free download and its hoped that other writers begin to submit to this subsection of short stories.
For more information about the celebrations round the world – check out National Flash Fiction Day, follow the #NFFD tweets or explore Raging Aardvark’s site.
Meanwhile, over at The Pygmy Giant they have a competition winner today
and last but not least my oldest firends Every Day Fiction celebrate Flash Fiction Day with another great story and stuff that’s going on and HERE just for a laugh is Jonathan Pinnock who kind of inspired me to write Cure-all!
All in all, this is a great day to READ!

It was Easter. I thought BUNNIES. Then Bill West in the Writewords Flash Poetry Forum mentioned VAMPIRE BUNNIES and whilst I immediately thought of Monty Python and The Holy Grail, the thought of vengeful bunnies took hold in my mind – that and the noisy road by the racetrack in York where I recently stayed in a hotel… It struck me that if rabbits were to evolve, it might be payback time for all the cruelties mankind has inflicted on theiir species. Year of the Rabbit took form.
Meanwhile the origins of my poem Angry Sun is apparent – especially if you click on the link that takes you to the NASA photo that inspired it. This time Sun spot activity looks like an angry bird – a suggestion made in the caption but I saw a baby bird too! Of course our minds are meant to recognise patterns such as these – they are part of our survival mechanisms but aren’t they fun and creative too?
And then it’s all over and what to do? Going Greener Oh and by the way – I made up the story – not the facts!!! Promession and Aquamation are both real alternatives to burial. This is the future of your present past
Enjoy the read.

I am told mine will be up in July
but in the meantime check this out – March’s Poem of the Month is a RENGA.
Renga is where haiku came from. Someone would start off with a verse and then other people would contribute a verse each and these things were usually composed in the equivalent of pubs. The names of the participants in this case, are listed beneath the poem.
’tis a fine tradition I’m sure you’ll agree.

What’s great about Christmas is that sometimes friends decide to pay a visit and this year has been a really good one in that respect for us. So far we have had visits from cousins, local friends and today, the icing on the cake mon ancien professeur de français (he’s not really that old) and his lovely wife Isabel. Lots of chat and memories and food and a wee nip of something homemade to warm the cockles – spiced chai tea
On the menu today, Old Bay Chicken thighs, cheese and potato whirls, sausage rolls, shortbreads, 15′s and mince pies Yummmmmmmmmmmy
More visitors after Christmas – I’m looking forward to it.
Hope you are all having a great time with your friends and family too.

We were married 31 years ago today. Of course he is still just as handsome and amusing as ever – pity about the missus. Thirty one years isn’t so long when you’re at the other end of it. I was just thinking about all the changes in our lives since then and how that’s what makes the whole marriage thing work – all that shared stuff.
Most people have children and when the children leave some of them find they haven’t shared much – or at least it was with the children – not each other. We’ve always been just us and that’s how we like it.
